Overview / Job Description

We’re looking for an experienced Display Engineer to join our Hardware team at Valve and help us deliver world-class products to our customers. As the subject matter expert, you will work with a highly collaborative and industry-leading group that is pushing the limits of what gaming hardware can and will be. Your role will encompass all things related to the display module and require deep technical involvement as well as managing and directing our vendor partners.

Responsibilities
  • Technical lead on displays for all HW programs.
  • Define and own specification and qualification.
  • Lead vendor engagement to deliver product per the spec and program schedule from concept through to production. International travel as needed.
  • Perform display measurements and product-level verification.
  • Develop next-gen display tech by implementing novel design ideas and collaborating with vendor partners.
Qualifications
  • Degree in EE, Physics, Optics, MS, or CS (MS, PhD preferred)
  • Minimum 5 years’ experience in shipping products or delivering technology.
  • Senior-level understanding of display technologies and applications, especially LED, OLED, polarization, and backlight.
  • Experience in system integration, display driver ICs, and high-level programming skills.
  • A hands-on, can-do attitude coupled with good communication and the ability to pivot quickly.

    • Managing Line-of balance and hardware tracking
    • Remove process roadblocks
    • Identifying hardware shortages
    • Collaborate with Manufacturing Engineers
    • Help manage the schedule in the scheduling tool and updates thereof
    • Champion Engineering Change Requests and risk mitigation activities to completion
    • Connect the dots between requirements and the qualification campaigns
    • Identify schedule-critical hardware, equipment, people, and facilities; resolve constraints
    • Coordinate with procurement, internal and external manufacturing to ensure that hardware priorities are understood and actively managed
    • Develop recovery strategies whennonconformancesor other escapes are identified
    • Take ownership of efforts from the program side including:-First article inspection work for AdditiveMfgParts-Identify EMI/EMC path forward-Fracture control for COTS valves
    • Material Review Boards/Engineering Review Boards for “upgrading” development hardware to flight status (impact / difference assessment and risk assessment).
    • Compare requirements/design for DevelopmentvsFlight versions

Education/Experience

    • B.S./B.A. degree in engineering or other technical field

Qualifications

The requirements listed below are representative of the knowledge, skill, and/or ability required.

    • 7+ years of experience in project engineering, preferably in the field of aerospace
    • Experience in valve hardware lifecycle
    • High pressure, hydraulic, propellant valve experience preferred
    • Good at mechanical components/mechanisms
    • Complicated customdesigns with integration experience
    • Integrate custom design and COTS
    • Systems engineering experience for requirement traceability
    • Crossdepartmentalcoordination
    • Component development/qualification test planning and execution background
    • High attention to detail and strong organizational/coordination skills
    • Demonstrated ability building trusting and effective working relationships that improve team performance and deliver results
    • Must be a U.S. citizen or national, U.S. permanent resident (current Green Card holder), or lawfully admitted into the U.S. as a refugee or granted asylum

Desired Skills

    • Mid-Career, Preferably with valve experience or systems engineering experience
