Overview / Job Description

Responsibilities

Organizational Location: This position is with the Department of Homeland Security, within U.S. Customs and Border Protection, Office of Field Operations, Tucson Field Office, located in San Luis, AZ.

This position will allow you to use your expertise in administration to provide substantive clerical support to CBP management. This position starts at a salary of $43,251.00 (GS-07, Step 1) to $56,222.00 (GS-07, Step 10) with promotion potential to $56,222 (GS-7 Step 10). In this position, you will strengthen the Department’s ability to protect the homeland by joining a valuable team of administrative professionals. Typical work assignments include:

  • Drafting and developing information material to employees to inform and maintain awareness of agency plans and programs.
  • Preparing a variety of recurring, budget and accounting reports based on established practice.
  • Coordinating and monitoring the organization’s property management and space utilization programs.
  • Providing assistance to higher graded Mission Support Specialist with various Human Resources procedures.
  • Establishing, maintaining, and monitoring a variety of records and statistical data regarding the administrative services provided.

      Qualifications

      Experience: You qualify for the GS-07 grade level if you possess 1 year of specialized experience equivalent to at least the next lower grade level, performing duties such as:

      • Maintaining contact with the Office of Finance and other national office elements in order to resolve routine problems and determine their causes.
      • Leading the annual physical inventory of non-expendable property and equipment, reconciles discrepancies, and maintains documentation.
      • Advising management of payroll changes, and working to resolve payroll problems with the national payroll staff.
      • Entering data into database programs; evaluating data for patterns or trends; and generating various management reports.
      • Researching training opportunities to fit specific needs and assists in arranging in-house training sessions.

      Experience refers to paid and unpaid experience, including volunteer work done through National Service programs (e.g., Peace Corps, AmeriCorps) and other organizations (e.g., professional; philanthropic; religious; spiritual; community, student, social). Volunteer work helps build critical competencies, knowledge, and skills and can provide valuable training and experience that translates directly to paid employment. You will receive credit for all qualifying experience, including volunteer experience.

      You must meet all qualification requirements, including education if applicable to this position, subject to verification at any stage of the application process by 01/15/2022.

      In order to be considered for this position, you must complete all required steps in the process.
