Overview / Job Description

Administers/coordinates program administration for the Ontario Renovates (OR) and Affordable Home Ownership (AHO) programs, including the receipt, tracking, and maintenance of program documents and payments, assessing applicant eligibility, providing information to applicants/clients, coordinating agreements with Legal Services, expenditure reporting and accounting activities, reconciliations of funding allocated and expensed, and related reports.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities Required:
  • Knowledge of general office, administrative, and bookkeeping/accounting procedures and protocols, word processing, and math skills acquired through a 3-year post-secondary diploma/degree in a related field (e.g., Accounting, Public Administration, Business Administration) plus 2 years of related experience, or an equivalent combination of education and experience such as a grade 12 education plus 4 years of experience, or a 2-year diploma plus 3 years experience.
  • Knowledge of and ability to comply with policies and procedures, Federal/Provincial funding guidelines, related documents including funding agreements, the Region’s Affordable Housing Strategy, and related legislation (e.g., Housing Services Act).
  • Analytical, problem solving and organizational skills to prepare cheque requisitions; compile and organize financial information for reports (e.g., budget versus actual, annual program summaries); meet program deadlines; and prepare, compile and track documentation for same. Ability to identify, investigate, and take steps to resolve discrepancies/recommend corrective action.
  • Ability to use confidentiality and discretion in handling clients’ personal information.
  • Communication and human relations skills to assist and provide information regarding program administration to clients and other stakeholders (e.g., legal and real estate representatives, lenders, contractors); conduct presentations and information sessions/training for clients, applicants, and special groups; discuss financial matters with divisional, Finance and Legal Services staff; deal with complaints and determine needs; and participate as an effective team member.
  • Ability to read and understand budget summaries and financial information, documents, reports and policies and procedures. Ability to draft agreements/documents, procedures; write correspondence; compile program data; prepare cheque and purchase requisitions. Ability to input financial data, prepare, maintain, and reconcile financial information (e.g., financial records, summaries).
  • Computer skills using software such as Microsoft Office, provincial and financial systems.
  • Ability to travel within Waterloo Region.
  • Ability to support and demonstrate the Region’s values.
