The Adult Education Division (AED) of Nova Scotia’s Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration is dedicated to improving the education and employment prospects of Nova Scotia’s adults by promoting, developing and funding adult literacy, essential skills, upgrading, and qualification recognition in the province. The Division administers the following programs: Nova Scotia School for Adult Learning, General Educational Development, Recognition of Prior Learning Funding Program, International Qualification Recognition Funding Program, and Fair Registration Practices Act (FRPA) Program.
About Our Opportunity
As the Adult Education Division Clerk, you perform a variety of clerical assignments using independent analysis and exercise professional discretion and confidentiality. As the Clerk, you have comprehensive knowledge of the Division’s functions, activities and policies and applies a collaborative approach to work.
The Adult Education Division Clerk reports to the Unit Manager.
Qualifications And Experience
To be successful in this role you have 4 years of related experience, or an acceptable equivalent combination of training and experience will be considered.
As the successful candidate you are dependable, and self-motivated who works well independently. You also participate fully in team environments building productive relationships with non-governmental and governmental members.
You have excellent communication (written and verbal} and organizational skills with attention to detail and accuracy, and the ability to prioritize complex and competing requests, ensuring critical deadlines are met. You maintain confidentiality, flexible and you are proficient using Microsoft Office programs.
Given the variety of programs and services, the incumbent must be able to function in a multitask environment.
We will assess the above qualifications and competencies using one or more of the following tools: written examination, standardized tests, oral presentations, interview(s), and reference checks.
