Friendship Home Coordinator
Reporting to the Director of Youth and Community Services, you will be responsible for the delivery of our Friendship Home Program that supports youth under the age of 19. This is a supervisory role that oversees the program, staffing of our six (6) bed, coed long-term residency youth program.
You have Bachelor Social Work or related Degree. Along with a minimum of 3 years relevant experience in a leadership role. A combination of education and experience may be considered. Ideally, you have MCFD Standards for Residential Resources awareness/knowledge; Community Care Licensing Regulations/legislation awareness/knowledge; Certification in or willing to obtain: First Aid, Food Safe, Class 4 Driver’s License, Suicide Intervention, and Conflict Resolution; Ability to undergo a successful criminal record search and MCFD pre-screening requirements. Ability to lead a crisis response and be a part of the on-call crisis response system.
For success in this role you have proven leadership and interpersonal skills and have knowledge of trauma-informed care and practices. You utilize a strength-based approach to work with youth and emerging adults and the ability to motivate others towards achieving their personal goals; the ability to work independently with strong sense of focus, task-oriented, nonjudgmental, open-minded qualities, and a clear sense of boundaries. You can work in a variety of settings with culturally-diverse families and communities with the ability to be culturally sensitive and appropriate, mentoring participants within the context of their identity, family, community, tribe, history, culture, and traditions. Excellent written and verbal communication skills and the ability to establish rapport with program participants. A strong sense of and respect for confidentiality involving both participant and fellow employees. Knowledge of the systemic issues that affect low income and marginalized youth. Knowledge of substance misuse, adolescent development and the problems encountered by chemically dependent individuals. Basic understanding of behavioral management. And the ability to maintain professional boundaries with clients. You communicate proficiently both verbally and in writing and work well independently and as part of a team. Proficient in Microsoft Office Applications. You have the ability to lead in a crisis response and be part of the on-call crisis rotation response system.
This position is full time and our starting wage is highly competitive with a full benefit plan and RRSP contributions.
