Job Description
The successful applicant will have a strong accounting and finance background. They will be looking for an opportunity to cultivate their skill-set in the areas of: IFRS accounting and reporting, cash flow management and forecasting, FX hedging, securing and maintaining banking relationships. With the assistance of the CFO, the Controller will build and uphold strong internal controls, accounting and financial processes.This individual will have a strong understanding of IFRS. Canada and US tax experience is a benefit, but not a requirement. 

This individual will be a service provider to internal customers – working closely with all other departments to provide meaningful reporting.

Roles & Responsibilities

  • Be an enthusiastic team player – keeping both the corporate and internal customers a priority at all times.
  • Manage and monitor all accounts, ledgers, and reporting systems ensuring compliance with IFRS standards and regulatory requirements as well as the requirements of investors, loans and government contracts and/or grants
  • Maintain internal control safeguards for the receipt of revenue, costs, organizational budgets and actual expenditures
  • Establish and maintain financial and operating benchmarks, budgets, program monitoring and reporting standards on a quarterly and annual basis
  • Analyze and interpret financial results to assist and advise the executive team
  • Manage ERP system, including CRM and Inventory modules
  • Manage the preparation of payroll for personnel
  • Manage inventory and work closely with the operations team to build the sales order – through invoicing process
  • Daily, monthly and quarterly cash flow tracking and forecasting (supported by the CFO)
  • Lead annual audit, and quarterly reporting obligations under IFRS (supported by the CFO)
  • Hire, train and retain skilled accounting and finance staff (supported by the CFO)
  • Bring forward ideas to improve efficiency and effectiveness for the department and the corporation
Qualifications
Skills and Requirements
 

  • Full cycle accounting experience including compiling financial statements
  • Managerial experience
  • Experience in managing an audit
  • Sales tax experience is a benefit, but not required
  • US accounting experience is a benefit, but not required
  • Tax experience is a benefit, but not required
  • Proven track record of communicating accounting and financial information effectively
  • A fantastic attitude
  • A desire to learn, make mistakes, relearn and grow
  • Experience with Netsuite and Quickbooks an asset

Education

  • CPA Designation in good standing
  • Undergraduate degree
