Overview / Job Description

Miracor Medical is a European medical device company active in the field of interventional cardiology specialized in improving the clinical outcome of patients with impaired cardiac function (specifically acute myocardial infarction). The company has developed a technology called PiCSO (Pressure Controlled Intermittent Coronary Sinus Occlusion), which is a unique class III proprietary technology that consists of a console, catheter, and some ancillary devices. The system is as used an adjunctive procedure during the primary PCI stenting procedure to restore arterial flow to the infarct territory in the acute setting. European clinical data indicates that PiCSO use is associated with smaller infarct sizes and improved coronary microcirculation patency.

PiCSO is progressing well with two European randomised clinical trial in ST-Elevation-Myocardial Infarction (STEMI) patients, with various potential additional therapeutic applications (among others, high-risk PCI, NSTEMI and heart failure). The company has already received CE Mark for its proprietary catheter and console and expects approval from FDA to initiate a pivotal Investigational Device Exemption (IDE) study in the next 9 months, having also received ‘fast track’ Breakthrough designation from the FDA in 2020
