Monday – Friday, 7:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m.

Job Summary

 

A Driver Coordinator develops, coaches and evaluates a select group of drivers. Oversees dispatch operations and tractor assignments and coordinates daily activities with other departments and shifts as needed. Communicates with Wholesale Distributors regarding delivery issues and with drivers and fleet maintenance for fuel and breakdown issues.

 

Essential Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.

  • Coaches and mentors drivers and transportation clerks to ensure the highest performance possible.
  • Coordinates with others to ensure high level of service to Wholesale Distributors drivers, and any internal customers.
  • Ensures that trip assignments are created in conjunction with driver bids, Department of Transportation (DOT) and other company parameters.
  • Ensures consistent and equitable scheduling of drivers and equipment.
  • Implements one-on-one and classroom safety training. Reviews or monitors driver logs, highway/traffic tickets and violations to implement procedures to ensure compliance with DOT and McKee standards.
  • Provides accurate information to distributors and/or customers to ensure customer satisfaction.
  • Reroutes trips, as necessary, to save time and dollars or to ensure pickup of backhauls, DOT compliance or to meet company parameters.
  • Communicates with other departments or outside contacts to minimize driver delays.
  • Enhances financial performance by utilizing existing resources and finding new solutions.
  • Coordinates daily activities including equipment tracking, dispatch times and returns with Fleet Maintenance to ensure scheduled maintenance times are met for equipment.
  • Maintains credit cards and keys issued by the company.
  • Demonstrates workplace behavior consistent with company policies and values.
  • Communicates job information to accomplish work tasks.
  • Maintains good attendance as defined by company and/or departmental policy.
  • Exercises personal safety on the job and demonstrates commitment to the safety of others and our products.
  • Supervises other employees and is responsible for the overall direction, coordination, and evaluation of this unit. Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization’s policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include interviewing, hiring and training employees; planning, assigning, and directing work; appraising performance; rewarding and disciplining employees; addressing complaints; and resolving problems.

Education and/or Experience

A high school diploma or GED with three to four full years of employment in a related position with this corporation or some other organization.
