As a Principal Software Engineer, Accounts, you’ll be in charge of the overall technical vision and execution for multiple teams within Accounts, including Authentication, Identity, Integrity, and Management. These teams cover an extremely diverse range of problems at all levels of the stack at high scale. At their core, they are fundamental to a user being able to sign up, log in, keep their account safe, and manage who they are on Roblox.

You Are:

  • Always Ready: You have 10+ years of experience in large-scale distributed systems with experience delivering low latency fault tolerant technical solutions. You have a BS in Computer Science, MS/PhD are a definite plus.

  • User oriented: While deeply technical, you always start with the needs of the user, whether they are Roblox users or internal engineers.

You Will:

  • Manage the technology that powers Roblox User Accounts
  • Lead the technical direction and implementation necessary to scale the Accounts Infrastructure across our tech stack of C#, Go, Native iOS/Android, C++, Lua, and multiple data pipeline technologies.
  • Be a technical communicator and facilitator with other organizations within Roblox that use our Account Infrastructure.
  • Stay on top of and evaluate 3rd party technologies which may be integrated into our Accounts platform.
  • Communicate with the industry and communities where applicable and be ambassador for Roblox.

Overview / Job Description

We are looking for a Game Systems Engineer to work on the design, implementation and support of micro-services and backing services in a cloud environment. They will interact with game clients, game servers, databases and the company’s web platform.

Responsibilities

  • Design, architect, implement and debug gameplay systems and associated distributed C++ service applications
  • Collaborate with design and engineering teams
  • Write technical design documents outlining the features and implantation strategy of game systems
  • Provide support for gameplay systems and backend services
  • Work with QA and DevOps teams to provide support for game systems in testing and live environments
  • and such other duties and responsibilities assigned by Cloud Imperium Games reasonably consistent with employee’s skills and experience

Skills

  • Experience with both Windows and Linux operating systems
  • Strong C++ knowledge with at least 5 years of experience
  • Strong Debugging skills in both Windows and Linux environments
  • Understanding of software design patterns
  • Comfortable working in multi-threaded and multi-process systems
  • Strong communication skills
  • International travel may be required as a part of this role
