Overview / Job Description
|ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (The following statements describe the general nature of work being performed in this job. They are not intended to be an exhaustive list of all duties. Additional responsibilities may be assigned by management):
§ Conducts research required for some coding.
§ Performs metadata updating and maintenance.
§ Performs product record cleanup as required (may include subject/intellectual coding).
§ Special projects as assigned.
This job has no supervisory responsibilities.
Maintains and updates product information according to company policy and procedures (price changes, status changes, product name changes, discounts, subject categories). Assigns subject coding to product records where needed and reviews various fields to ensure proper synchronization of data. Reviews correction requests submitted by publishers, customers and colleagues . Creates new database records for special merchandising projects. Interacts with internal departments and contacts vendors via telephone or e-mail.
§ High school graduate plus at least two years additional specialized training/education and one to three years business experience or equivalent combination of education and experience.
§ Strong knowledge of PC applications( MS Excel, and Outlook).
§ Attention to detail is required
§ Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating instructions, and procedure manuals. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence and speak effectively to customers or employees.
§ Ability to calculate figures and amounts such as discounts, interest, percentages, and volume.
§ Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists and interpret instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands and fingers to perform keyboard work and must occasionally stand, walk, talk, hear, and lift/move up to 10 pounds. Specific vision requirements include close and color vision in order to use PC/CRT and read written documents.
The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
