Overview / Job Description

Chevron Technical Center’s (CTC) Reservoir Engineering and Simulation Discipline is looking for candidates to join our high-performing & diverse Reservoir Simulation Development and Environment Chapter through August 26, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (CST).

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:                                                          

  • Develop & execute R&D projects on leading-edge reservoir simulation and optimization technologies to support Chevron’s higher return and lower carbon goals.
  • Work closely with research team to collaborate on R&D and commercialize mature research items into commercial products, and also with support teams to improve engineering products based on user feedback.
  • Collaborate with internal and external research organizations.

Required Qualifications:

  • Ph.D. in Petroleum Engineering or related areas with strong knowledge in reservoir simulation and optimization.
  • Demonstrated R&D experience in advanced reservoir simulation, improved/enhanced oil recovery, unconventional reservoirs, and optimization a plus.
  • Fluent in compositional & thermal simulation, fracture modeling, shale & tight physics, chemical EOR, optimization, and/or flow-geomechanics coupling.
  • Software development skills using C++, python, HPC and cloud computing frameworks.
  • Strong skills of using ML/AI to accelerate performance, discrete fractured reservoir modeling,  and knowledge of physics required for CCUS and energy transition are plus.
  • Good communication skills and work effectively in a team environment.

Overview / Job Description

Chevron is accepting online applications for the position Senior Counsel  through August 2nd, 2022 at 11:59 p.m. (Pacific Standard Time).

Responsibilities for this position may include but are not limited to:

  • Managing an extensive docket of Chevron regulatory, administrative, policy, and enforcement matters related to environmental and safety issues.
  • Providing legal support to internal HES audits.
  • Achieving excellent, cost-effective results through early hazard recognition and strategic case and matter management that emphasizes the attorney’s own representation of the client, with judicious, effective use and management of outside counsel when appropriate.
  • Coordinating and ensuring maximum effective use of in-house and outside legal resources.
  • Creating and maintaining the highest level of client confidence and satisfaction through excellent
  • Communication and unqualified professionalism.
  • Maintaining maximum expertise in the attorney’s legal fields of responsibility, keeping abreast of policy and regulatory developments, participating with other in-house personnel and with industry associations in providing constructive input to governmental bodies on legislative and regulatory issues, cooperating with and assisting the other members of the group on day-to-day matters as well as increasing their own expertise and the professional reputation of the group as a whole.
  • Successful candidate will deliver superior performance and results consistent with the Chevron Way, and Chevron’s tenets of Operational Excellence and Capital Stewardship.
  • Respect for the individual, with an emphasis on diversity and inclusion, while adhering to principles of professionalism and the canons of legal ethics are essential attributes.
  • Specific responsibilities for this job include: extensive client counseling in HES laws, rules, regulations, policies, and guidelines; interpretation of HES rules and regulations; and participation in the selection and oversight of outside counsel for advice and litigation.

Required Qualifications:

  • Juris Doctorate required and admission to practice law in at least one state.
  • Candidate must have at least seven (7) years of environmental/safety law experience with broad based responsibility for a portfolio of legal matters including compliance counseling, investigations, interpreting and negotiating agency orders and agreements, advising on the environmental aspects of commercial transactions, and providing support on Upstream and Downstream environmental and safety issues with a demonstrated high level of expertise in at least one environmental media.
  • The candidate must have an excellent academic record, experience as an advocate in administrative proceedings or litigation involving such issues, demonstrated ability to analyze and evaluate legal questions and client needs, strong writing and oral communication skills, and strongclient relationship skills.
  • An attorney in this position must be a self-starter who is adept at working in a true team environment and partnering with management, clients, other in-house counsel, outside counsel and staff. At times, this position may involve moderate travel.
