Overview / Job Description

  • Establish and maintain a strong and effective relationship with the customer and gain their trust and respect.
  • Monitor simulator discrepancies and ensure that they are prioritized and corrected in a timely manner.
  • Monitor and assure all simulators ready for training.
  • Provides technical advice to customers and may be asked to conduct meetings with customers and/or regulatory agencies.
  • Plan and coordinate daily activities and work assignments along with future projects in order to minimize customer impact; Identify and track recurring and potential system problems and confer with technical experts and colleagues to formulate working plans to alleviate problems

LEADERSHIP:

ADMINISTRATIVE RESPONSIBILITIES & REPORTING:

  • Coordinate schedules with technicians and assist in the generation of monthly schedules to provide sufficient coverage.
  • Communicate to senior management all important and priority items that have arisen from the technical operation arising from either the simulator technicians or the customer.
  • Generate and lead the annual performance reviews of the simulator technicians.
  • Coordinate with any necessary personnel (CAE, vendors, etc.) to obtain parts and assistance to support operations in a timely and cost-effective manner.

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Engineering Degree or Technical Diploma in Electronics or Electrical or Aviation related field; and at least Eight (8) years direct simulator experience with at least Five (5) years on CAE equipment.
  • At least Four (4) years of Managerial/Supervisory position in Simulator Technical support environment.
  • Ability to make quality decisions and recommendations on technical aspects and pertaining to human resources issues.
  • Proven ability to create and foster a teamwork climate in which people want to do their best and value the employees while ensuring the team remains fully engaged.
  • Competence to motivate and develop direct reports; excellent leadership skills to steadfastly push self and others to reach and surpass expectations.
  • Solid technical background (Hardware and Software) and familiarity with technical simulator issues on all different systems, specifically: motion, visual, avionics, hydraulics, etc.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective relationships with the customer to gain their trust and respect
  • Highly Customer oriented and must be able to deal tactfully in sensitive situations
  • Advanced understanding of Military Aviation training.
  • Advanced computer skills with knowledge of the Microsoft Office suite.
  • Fluency in English.

WORK ENVIRONMENT AND PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Work in a Defense & Security environment
  • Domestic and international travel as required.
  • Must be able to walk and/or climb stairs and ladder into a simulator or airplane cockpit.

Overview / Job Description

  • Sourcing procurement of simulator/aircraft parts, tools, and consumables required.
  • Liaise with suppliers on loans, exchanges, sales, quotations, purchases, warranties etc.
  • Maintain and develop business relationships with key personnel involved in or directly relevant to a logistics activity, including engineers, vendors, suppliers, and shipping/freight coordinators.
  • Identify local vendors, suppliers and suitable refurbishment contractors to provide cost effective replacements & repairs, and to support improvements initiatives (look and feel).
  • Generate, process, and track purchase orders and associated payments, in collaboration with the finance department and with the required approvals from management.
  • Collaborate with the technical operations departments to meet the requirements for spare and/or replacement parts, to take advantage of cost saving opportunities or, in the case of shortages, to minimize and/or mitigate any potential impact on the training delivery and the business.

2- Shipment and Transportation of Goods:

  • Prepare, send, and receive shipments, in adherence and compliance with local & International laws & regulations, safety standards, as well as any applicable export control policies & regulations.
  • Negotiate agreements, and pricing with shipping or freight companies
  • Process, complete, and file the associated shipping documentation such as: shipment manifests, purchase orders, repair orders, commercial invoices, air way bills, and import/export documentation.

3- Coordination and Administrative Tasks

  • Notify the technical operations department of incoming or outgoing parts or consumables.
  • Make use of the Maintenance Management System to record, track, and review the requirements and flow of parts and consumables required for maintenance of the training devices.
  • Work with the technical operations department to manage the stores, ensure that items are stored in the right location, and ensure that the quantities in the stores reflect the inventory.
  • Work with CAE Customer Service for shipments, repairs, advance exchanges, etc…
  • Perform regular internal inventory audits, and assist in external inventory audits.
  • Keep track of consumable levels, and place orders in a timely manner to avoid shortages.
  • Ensure that all tools are calibrated (if required) and up-to-date. Update the associated trackers and file calibration certificates for review by customers, and internal/external auditors.

4- Comply with local & global CAE Environmental Health & Safety standards, instructions, and safe working procedures. Exercise duty of care for own H&S, and that of others who may be affected by his/her work.

Job Qualifications:

  • 8+ years of experience in working within a logistics department with knowledge and experience in the fields of project management and logistic best practices.
  • Knowledge of FSTD is required.
  • Strong knowledge in aircraft parts procurement is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication skills (written and oral), including presentation and training skills
  • Ability to multi task and meet tight deadlines.
  • Team player who is cooperative with sharing of information and knowledge
  • Proven ability to work on the administrative and operational side of the business.

Simulator Support Specialist

Role and Responsibilities                                                                                           

CAE Middle East is recruiting a SIMULATOR SUPPORT SPECIALIST who will be part of a team providing Support for a fleet of Full Flight Simulators and Lower Level Training devices part of a Flight Crew Training Center located in Doha, Qatar. The position will report to the relevant local Group Leader Technical Operations.

JOB QUALIFICATIONS

  • Bachelor of Engineering with minimum of Five Years related experience.
  • Knowledge of CAE software and applications including but not limited to CAELIB, STARTEAM, Strive framework, Visual Systems, SIM XXI, Simfinity, Launchpad, ITMS.
  • Knowledge of C, C++ and FORTRAN programming languages and scripting languages (Perl).
  • Knowledge of Microsoft development tools for Windows platform (Visual Studio 6.0 and higher).
  • Knowledge of simulated systems and instruments/avionics interface including but not limited to SIM XXI, CAE R3 & R4 technology and 7000 XR.
  • Self-motivated, dynamic, team player.
  • Strong planning and organizational skill.  Ability to adapt quickly to changes in technology.
  • Demonstrate flexibility and strong project and assigned tasks ownership as well as ability to work and make decisions unsupervised.

As a Simulator Support Specialist, you will be responsible for activities in the following areas:

  • Be the point of contact for any software related technical matter for all Simulators.
  • Define and Manage Simulator Configuration Control.
  • Participate in project reviews as required, review systems architecture to help ensure it meets requirements of project & lead s/w integration of the project.
  • Lead and offer technical S/W support to other support engineers.
  • Ensure proper communication within the team regarding simulator status and problems found.
  • Debug, Identify and participate actively in solving Software/Hardware problems, Implement fixes (Local and from CAE Mtl) on all simulators.
  • Short-term dispatch on AOG situation.
  • Will be involved in analysis, review and acceptance of Current & Initial Master QTGs for Simulators.
  • Support the recurrent running of Qualification Test Guide (QTG) & Simulator Flight Test Schedule (SFTS).
  • Manage Authorities reports for ALL simulators.
  • Correct QTG related deficiencies & Implement.
  • As applicable, be the main point of contact to the relevant Authorities for all QTG related issues for all simulators.
  • Support Service Level Agreement within the Middle-East region.
  • Flexible working hours to fit simulator availability. Off the roster, weekday shifts mainly. Possible Roster shift work on temporary basis to replace vacation or sickness leaves when required.
  • Interact with customers, other engineers, Authorities and air crews.
  • Regional and International Travel may be required to support other TCOPS location.

Overview / Job Description

Role and Responsibilities                                                                                                       

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Learn and perform preventive maintenance tasks on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Assist in diagnosing and correcting problems on the simulators and associated simulator systems.
  • Utilize maintenance management system to record and track maintenance activities.
  • Complete all designated training activities.
  • Perform pre-flight and post flight on designated simulators.
  • Perform basic visual alignments.
  • Run automatic Qualification Test Guide (QTG).
  • Assist with refurbishment and hardware modifications.
  • Learn and comply with CAE quality management system.
  • Provide customer service support and address customer needs in a timely manner.
  • Perform housekeeping functions to maintain the simulators as required.
  • Perform logistics duties, including parts received, repair, and testing/validation.
  • Perform administrative tasks as required.
  • Perform tasks to support the technical services group as required.

Qualifications:

  • 2-year technical degree or 4 years in an electronic, avionic, or technical related field.
  • Minimum of 1 to 3 years of relevant experience.
  • Ability to work flexible shifts and to adapt to changing work schedules.
  • Ability to interpret system prints and schematics.
  • Proficiency in operating test equipment (oscilloscope, multi-meter, signal generator, logic analyzer, etc.).
  • Knowledge in analog and digital theory.
  • Computer literate (PC and/or computer mainframe/architecture). 
  • Proficiency in soldering and circuit board repairs.
  • Some Knowledge of Microsoft Office tools and suite.
