The opportunity:
As a Business Development Manager, you will help scholarly societies thrive by introducing them to Impact Science services. You will help them develop long-term strategies to grow their publishing programs and other membership outreach activities.
Responsibilities:
Contact prospective customers by phone, email, social media, and in-person meetings
Develop relationships and help find solutions to the pain points experienced by scholarly societies
Respond to RFPs and other prospective customer enquiries
Participate in local, national and (potentially) international scholarly events and meetings
Support preparation of communications and marketing copy
Collaborate in the preparation of contracts
Travel to prospective client sites
Assist in ongoing client management
Desired qualifications, skills/ experience, and interests
Bachelor’s degree in any field
3+ years of related experience
Excellent writing and communication skills
Enjoys meeting new people and developing long term business relationships
Familiarity with the Internet and office productivity tools (spreadsheets, word processing, presentation software, online presentation applications etc.)
Willingness to learn and ability to think critically
You are encouraged to apply even if you don’t have business development experience but are currently working in:
scholarly journal editorial workflow support, or
research communications support, or
research software support or marketing, or
scholarly society member administration and support, or
research but are exploring a career change
