The Alliance for Downtown New York manages the Downtown-Lower Manhattan Business Improvement District (BID) serving an area roughly from City Hall to the Battery, from the East River to West Street. We provide a host of services, including supplemental sanitation and security, economic development, streetscape and transportation improvements, marketing and enhanced tourist services. As part of its supplemental services, the Downtown Alliance maintains planted areas across nine public spaces, as well as planters throughout Lower Manhattan.
POSITION DESCRIPTION
The Alliance for Downtown New York seeks applicants for the position of Seasonal Gardener in the Operations Department. This position will require 32 hours a week, with working hours of 8AM-4PM from May through November. Reporting to the District Landscape Manager, the Seasonal Gardener will be responsible for performing landscape and horticultural maintenance across nine public plazas and parks, which includes caring for planted areas and over 140 planters.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
Work on daily tasks as defined by the District Landscape Manager, including planting, mulching, weeding, watering, string trimming, mowing, trash removal, and pruning.
Observe safety protocols; interact with the public in a friendly and positive manner.
Assist in planting, watering, mulching, and moving planters.
Report all observed weed and pest problems.
Maintain tools, equipment, and shared storage space.
Gather botanical data on our parks and gardens.
Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
Candidate must be vaccinated for Covid-19 and show proof of vaccination prior to hire
Candidate must agree to undergo background check
Excellent work ethic and communication skills
The ability to work consistently, independently, and with a team
Minimum of 1 year experience in landscaping, gardening, or agriculture; horticultural education may be substituted for experience.

Reporting to our Sr. Manager, Accounting, you will be responsible for the oversight of the opex and accounts payable team members, support of the monthly, quarterly & year end close processes for multiple subsidiaries both domestic and international, adherence and improvements to internal controls, and ad hoc tasks.

You will be based in our NY or LA office and will report to the Sr. Manager, Accounting.
You Will
Meet accounting financial objectives by scheduling expenditures, analyzing variances, and initiate corrective action
Achieve operational objectives by resolving problems, supporting audits, determining system improvements, and implementing change.
Continue to develop and establish necessary efficiencies for collecting, analyzing and reporting of financial information
Work with appropriate internal stakeholders to improve accuracy and timelines for key inputs
Support and oversight for the OPEX and Accounts Payable ongoing functions
Maintain accounting controls by establishing and understanding policies and procedures
Maintain appropriate financial confidentiality
Update job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities and maintaining personal networks
Accomplish accounting and organization mission by completing related results as needed
You Have
A degree in Accounting or related field
5-10 years experience in accounting
CPA a plus
Proficiency in NetSuite
Proficiency in Concur
Knowledge in Production Accounting
Proficient in Microsoft Excel (can perform complex functions) and suite of programs
Ability to effectively delegate and meet necessary deadlines
