The EHS Coordinator is a visible champion of change, continuously driving engagement at every level of the organization. A strong individual who will have in-depth knowledge of all Ontario and Canadian regulations and ensures full compliancy in the facility.

Responsible to develop, implement and maintain comprehensive Environment, Health & Safety programs.
The incumbent will use his/her strong communication and collaboration to engage with the shop floor employees to drive participation in identifying and eliminating risk on the shop floor, in our warehouses and in our manufacturing supporting roles.

• The EHS Specialist must ensure that Armacell Canada complies with all OH&S standards and is responsible for all health and safety assessment operations including reports, evaluations, inspection scheduling and auditing.

• This position is required to take on administrative roles, participating in safety committees or recommending changes to management.

• Provide training to personnel on all training requirements, both legislative and internal on risk management, risk identification and develop a culture that continuously uses risk as part of our decision making for change.

• Develop, manage and maintain the Health & Safety Program in collaboration with the JHSC, Plant Management and regional/global Safety leaders.

• Own the MSDS database and ensure full compliance through updates, communications, WHMIS training

• Drive employee participation in Armacell’s EHS Card submissions, Quick Kaizens, SOPs, and One Point Lessons

• Work with the JHSC members, first aiders and incident commanders on incident investigations and root cause analysis.

• Monitor and regulate Armacell’s compliance with guidelines set forth by the Ontario Ministry of the Environment and Climate Change.

• Monitor the current environmental impacts and risks and create policies for corrective measures.

• Develop the policy designed to meet environmental goals by testing operations.

• Complete regular safety, environment audits to ensure compliance and provide corrective action plans to address any gaps or risks.

• Liaise with local authorities to ensure code compliances including the development of emergency preparedness plans.

• Analyze and periodically review the appropriate PPE is in place for all tasks in the facility.

Professional Experience (how long)? 3 Years +

Certification in Manufacturing related safety programs an asset

Other skills/knowledge?

• Fully knowledgeable in all aspects of the Ontario Occupational Health and Safety Act in regards to manufacturing and warehousing

• 5+ years in a manufacturing environment

• Strong focus on safety, health & environment compliances with demonstrated successes of achievements

• Strong attention to detail and good judgment showing logical decision making, with a hands on approach

• Ability to problem solve, coordinate, prioritize, and perform multiple tasks daily

• Deadline driven

• Confident self-starter with the ability to operate in a dynamic environment, combined with the ability to think “out of the box” to provide innovative solutions
