Overview / Job Description

Key Responsibilities:

  • Provide reception duties at the front counter, greet patients upon arrival, answer phone calls, schedule appointments
  • Submit MCP billings, currently using Telus Med Access electronic medical records
  • Update medical charts and associated records
  • Answer telephone inquiries from patients and others; screen calls to determine nature and urgency of inquiry, refer calls as appropriate, instruct patients as needed regarding administrative and/or logistical procedures
  • Coordinating collection of payments for uninsured services and issue of appropriate receipts for documentation

· Review and process incoming faxes and other documentation related to referrals, recalls and consultations

· Appropriately access and review patient reports and results; Patient filing methods and record keeping

· Transfer and or update patient files as needed

· Complete forms and documentation related to specimens, tests, etc.

· Assist and prepare exam rooms

· Cleaning duties as necessary

Qualifications:

· Completion of a Medical Office Administration program (or equivalent combination of training and experience) is required.

· Good working knowledge of medical terminology is essential.

· Demonstrated ability to work in a busy, fast-paced environment and ability to handle a large volume and a wide variety of patients is crucial.

· Excellent communication and interpersonal skills are essential along with good organizational, time management and prioritization skills.

· Basic computer skills (word processing, email, spreadsheets, and internet) are required.

· Proficiency in electronic medical software system would be as asset.

Only qualified individuals with the required experience will be considered

Job Types: Full-time, Part-time, Permanent
Part-time hours: 20-35 per week

Salary: $13.20-$20.00 per hour

Education:

  • AEC / DEP or Skilled Trade Certificate (preferred)

Experience:

  • administrative assistant: 1 year (preferred)
